To the editor:

I am sure the people of Lawrence are well aware of this, but I just want to add our praises.

Midge Grinstead is your Lawrence Humane Society facility manager, and she and her husband, Mark, plus one of her employees worked in the animal rescue area after the Greensburg tornado. They worked tirelessly all week but had to return for the weekend to Lawrence. They were back the next week to continue resettling the animals at the Pratt shelter. She has wonderful organizational skills and also works right along on the job.

Having them respond from so far away with supplies as well as manpower was really meaningful.
