Boating safety classes available
Boating safety classes, which are required to be able to operate a motorboat, sailboat or personal watercraft in the state, will take place this month at Clinton Lake.
Members of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, Perry Lake Flotilla 31-09, will offer the Kansas Boater Safety Course from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 19 at the Clinton Lake Marina. The course was developed by the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks.
Along with the Kansas Boater Safety Course, students may elect to take the America’s Boating Course, which includes a textbook and an interactive CD.
Completion of the America’s Boating Course is a prerequisite for On The Water Training, which is also offered by the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary.
For more information and to preregister for a safe boating course, call Shirley Higgins, (785) 841-1419, or Pam Chaffee, (785) 887-6868.
