Jury indicts man in abduction of boys

? A grand jury charged a former pizzeria manager Wednesday with kidnapping and armed criminal action against a 13-year-old who was found in the man’s apartment with another missing boy.

The indictment, which had been expected, accuses Michael Devlin, 41, of using a deadly weapon in snatching Ben Ownby on Jan. 8, four days before police found him and Shawn Hornbeck, 15, who had been missing for four years.

Franklin County prosecutor Robert Parks wouldn’t comment on the indictment.

Police have charged Devlin with kidnapping and armed criminal action in Washington County, where Shawn was abducted, and with 71 felony counts in St. Louis alleging he restrained and sodomized both boys.

Devlin is being held in the Franklin County jail in lieu of $1 million bail.
