Counselor attends national conference

Christy Edwards, of Solace Counseling Services, Lawrence, attended the 21st Annual National Council on Problem Gambling Conference, conducted June 8-10 in Kansas City, Mo.

The conference focused on adolescent addictions, co-occurring disorders, prevention and research. Edwards attended a panel discussion, “Casino Gambling Comes to Kansas: Politics, Profits and Problem Gambling,” that addressed the recent expansion of gambling in Kansas and how it compares to recent national trends.

Panelists came from Arizona, Nebraska and Washington, and included the director of the National Council on Problem Gambling from Washington, D.C.

The event was co-sponsored by the Midwest Consortium on Problem Gambling and Substance Abuse.
