An arraignment scheduled Tuesday for a former Lawrence High School teacher accused of having sex with a 15-year-old student was continued in Douglas County District Court.
During a brief court appearance, the woman's attorney, James Rumsey, asked Douglas County District Judge Stephen Six to continue the case. Six agreed, and the woman will next appear in court at 11 a.m. July 2.
"There is likely to be a plea in this case," Rumsey told the judge.
The woman, who was in her first year of teaching at LHS, was arrested March 16 and charged with two counts of aggravated indecent liberties with a child and two counts of criminal sodomy.
She is free on $15,000 bond. Prosecutors allege the acts occurred between August and mid-March.
She was suspended when the allegations surfaced, and the Lawrence school board in April voted not to renew her contract for the 2007-08 school year.
The Journal-World does not name people accused of sexual crimes unless there is a conviction.

again… if you're going to put the charges in the paper, at least get them correct. Look into it. It's 4 counts of aggravated indecent liberties and NO sodomy charges.
