Olathe A total of 560 pounds of marijuana with an estimated street value of $360,000 was seized Thursday night during a commercial vehicle stop by Johnson County sheriff's officers.
A tractor-trailer rig was stopped on Interstate 35 near 151st Street. The driver, an El Paso, Texas, man, was arrested on charges of possession with intent to deliver marijuana and for not having a drug stamp.

~72-hour commercial vehicle safety enforcement event~
You mean a roadblock checkpoint? Oh yeah, that's right, you can't call them that anymore because roadblock checkpoints are illegal.

That works out to about $40/oz. Adjusted for inflation, around here in the 60's that would have qualifed as "ditchweed."
You have to wonder about (1) the rocket scientists who paid for diesel to truck it here from El Paso, or (2) the condition of the Johnson County Sheriff's calculator.

The drug taxes are the biggest pos I've heard of in quite a while. Here is how the state decided to tax drugs... Hmm. we decreased the penalties for drugs, but we have to find some way to put this evil and vile people in jail. How bout we get them for Tax evasion and fraud? That way we can throw em in the slammer for decades. The war on drugs and the laws in place today are a travesty. How can someone be taxed for something which is illegal. We are only a few steps away from enforcing a tax for people to pay their taxes. I wish the government would keep their damn hands off my pocketbook, my home, and my body. If I were to partake in recreational drug use in the privacy of my own home, who exactly would this hurt? The government has no right to regulate what a person voluntarily puts into their body. Does nobody realize that the founding fathers smoked tobacco and marijuana with the native americans. Piece out, I'm going to Amsterdam.

Don't even get me started on thes illegal "vehicle safety enforcement events". This is a load of crap. How exactly does the government have the right to search any and every vehicle travelling down the highway. Our civil liberties are becoming a thing of the past.
Oh brave new world...
