Accident reported near Eudora

Authorities respond to head-on crash

Emergency crews responded this afternoon to a head-on vehicle crash nearly two miles west of Eudora on Kansas Highway 10, at the Winchester overpass.

The crash was reported shortly before 5 p.m. Officials said there was debris on the highway, backing up traffic.

Three people were reported involved in the crash, but none apparently had life-threatening injuries. Two of them were taken to Lawrence Memorial Hospital, while the third person declined treatment.

A Douglas County sheriff’s deputy said a car traveling west apparently crossed the median and collided nearly head-on with another vehicle, which was traveling east. The two patients who went to LMH were traveling in the eastbound lane.

Officials also responded to another accident about 5:30 p.m. in Lawrence just east of Harper Street. That accident, which occurred in heavy traffic, sent one person to the hospital, officers said.
