Police seek clues in armed burglary
Lawrence police continue to investigate a reported armed burglary Wednesday night in the 1100 block of Pennsylvania Street.
The incident began about 9:10 p.m. when a 21-year-old Topeka woman, who was asleep in her car, was awakened by two men, whose faces were covered with masks and clothing. The men ordered her at gunpoint to enter the residence.
The men then went into the house and ordered two other women in their 20s, as well as two girls, ages 5 and 3, to get on the floor.
One of the three women was taken to a bedroom by the two men where they demanded money and any purses in the house. The two men emptied the purses, but took only two cell phones before leaving.
No one was injured in the incident.
Two other girls, ages 4 and 1, were asleep in another room during the incident.
Police were unsure why the woman was sleeping in the car and whether she knew the home’s occupants.
