Law enforcement report

¢ Lawrence police Tuesday afternoon arrested a 30-year-old Kansas City, Mo., man who was wanted on warrants in Clay County, Mo., for two counts of statutory criminal sodomy and one count of rape.

According to a police report, an officer stopped the man’s vehicle near Ninth and Iowa streets. The man also was arrested on an obstruction charge because the officer said he refused to provide a valid driver’s license and produced a Mexican identification card, which police said was false. Police said the man is in jail awaiting extradition to Missouri.

Injury accidents

¢ A motorcyclist involved in a wreck around 10 p.m. Monday was in critical condition Tuesday after he was transported to Overland Park Regional Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.

Lawrence police responded to the accident at 10:13 p.m. Monday. Joseph K. Pfortmiller, 53, was riding a motorcycle west at mile marker 6 on Kansas Highway 10 when he collided with a 1996 Ford Contour traveling north on East Hills Drive.

Lillian W. Sheain, 23, of Lawrence, was the driver of the Contour. Pfortmiller was not wearing a helmet at the time of the incident. No citations have been issued.

¢ An Ottawa woman was taken to Olathe Medical Center with a possible injury after a two-vehicle wreck Tuesday evening on Interstate 35 in Johnson County.

Deanna J. Leecy, 40, Ottawa, was driving a 2005 Ford Escape north at 6:21 p.m. on I-35 near its junction with U.S. Highway 56 when a 1998 Ford Mustang, driven by Matthew Cappelatti, 25, Edgerton, made an unsafe lane change and struck her vehicle, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol report.

Leecy’s vehicle rolled onto its top. Both people wore seat belts, and Cappelatti was not injured.
