Parolee convicted in Lawrence shooting killed

A Topeka man, on parole for a conviction related to a 2003 shooting of a Lawrence man, was shot and killed Friday night in Topeka, police have said.

Topeka police officers said Sunday night they were still investigating the death of Corey T. Robinson, 26, after he was shot in the back while standing outside.

Robinson was convicted in January 2004 in Douglas County after pleading guilty to aiding a felon and illegally possessing a firearm related to the shooting death of 21-year-old Quincy Sanders, who was shot multiple times on March 14, 2003, in the 2600 block of Ridge Court.

Robinson was on parole as of last year, according to Kansas Department of Corrections records, but he was being sought since March for not following up with his parole officer.

Tremain Scott, 25, of Overland Park, remains in a Kansas prison serving a five-year sentence. His earliest possible release is in October. He pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter for shooting Sanders.
