Books offer shower game ideas

There are two kinds of women in this world: Those who like to play games at baby and bridal showers, and those who don’t. But if you’re hosting a shower, and definitely plan to put games on the agenda, it’s worth checking out “Baby Shower Games” and “Bridal Shower Games” (Chronicle Books, $12.95 each).

The spiral-bound books offer eight ideas for shower games and, most importantly for the time-pressed hostess, present perforated, ready-to-use game sheets for your guests. (If it’s a big shower, you’ll need to make copies.)

Even if you’re generally anti-game, there are several ideas in each book that are fairly unobtrusive and should get most guests into the shower spirit. Most women probably will enjoy the TV couple bridal shower game, but don’t try the old standard baby-food tasting unless you know you’ve got a particularly willing group of guests.

Each book also includes pages for someone to record the guest of honor’s gifts as she opens them.
