Commissioners received a report from the Lawrence Chamber of Commerce on the chamber’s efforts to create a community vision.

Chamber leaders presented a vision document that included being a “vibrant and economically healthy community that satisfies the most important needs and desires of our citizens.” It also states that the community should be recognized as “one of the finest university cities in which to live and work.”

The vision statement specifically said the community would need to focus on: maintaining a distinctive spirit and atmosphere in the city; providing superior amenities; and providing robust and sustainable economics.

Commissioners thanked the chamber for creating the document, and said they would include it in any community-wide visioning process that the City Commission might undertake.
