Police uncover leads in missing student case

? Family and friends of a 19-year-old Cowley College woman who has not been seen since Friday say she is not the type of person to run off without contacting someone.

Jodi Sanderholm was last seen about 1 p.m. Friday at a Subway restaurant in Arkansas City, said her mother, Cindy Sanderholm.

Arkansas City police said in a statement Monday that “important leads” have been developed in the case. Police declined to disclose any details other than saying they have recovered unspecified evidence connected to her disappearance.

On Sunday at their Arkansas City home, Cindy Sanderholm said her daughter called her at 11:50 a.m. Friday after finishing dance class and said she was going to visit friends. Those friends weren’t home, so Jodi went to the Subway.

“No one’s seen her since then,” her mother said.

Jodi is 5 feet 3 inches and 105 pounds. She has brown hair and brown eyes and was driving a 2003 black Dodge Stratus coupe with Kansas tag number WOT 921. She was wearing a black leotard with gray cutoff sweat pants and a Cowley College Danceline sweat shirt with her name on it, and orange flip flops.

Jodi would not leave without telling anyone, Cindy Sanderholm said.

“She’d call me to say she’s going to Winfield to get her nails done,” she said. “If Jodi says she’s going to do something, she does it.”

Cindy Sanderholm said she started to become worried about 2:30 p.m. Friday because Jodi was not answering her cell phone. Her cell phone now is either out of power or turned off, and her parents have not been able to locate it, despite help from the phone company.

Jodi plans to finish her pre-pharmacy studies at Cowley College in December and then move to Dallas, where her boyfriend, Colby Wilson, attends the University of Texas, said her father, Brian.

Many Arkansas City businesses have posted signs with Jodi’s picture, and friends and family were bringing food and support to the Sanderholms’ home Sunday.

“She’s lived here her whole life,” Brian Sanderholm said. “Everyone knows her. They’re all rooting for her.”

“Now we just have to wait,” Cindy Sanderholm said.
