DULUTH, GA. For years, Lisa Ann Taylor's neighbors suspected something was going on behind the doors of her white-columned, million-dollar mansion in one of suburban Atlanta's most exclusive neighborhoods.
Despite repeated calls to police about the suspicious goings-on, there was no evidence of a crime. That is, until six weeks ago, when authorities were tipped off to a Web site showing Taylor - a former Penthouse Pet of the Month - sprawled topless on an ottoman and brazenly advertising services ranging from $300 one-hour photo shoots to "dream dates" that included a one-hour "show."
Police raided the red-brick mansion Wednesday and found what they described as a high-class brothel and the headquarters of a call-girl ring whose customers received favors limited only by their imaginations and their ability to pay.
Taylor, 42, and her alleged business partner and fellow call girl, 30-year-old Nicole A. Probert, were arrested on charges of prostitution, racketeering and conspiracy to possess cocaine. They were released from jail Thursday on $27,000 bail each.

This has what to do with Lawrence's crime scene; unless it is to inform patrons who may be traveling to the Atlanta, Ga. area. roflmao

legalize it, tax it, and let the good times roll! Seriously, why is prostitution a crime? Once again if it was legal you would not have the problems withit that you have now(pimps, under age, forcing someone into the sex industry)

Smitty, I kind of agree with you. Where is the story about the road rage that occured at Walmart a couple of days ago...did I miss it? I saw it on Faux news from KC last night.

Prostitution should be legal, oh, wait marriage is form of prostitution, is it not?

Valkyrie_of_Reason (Kathy Getto) says…

Valkyrie,
I bet you're just all kinds of romantic to be around?
the institution of marriage, as traditionally practiced promotes and fosters monogamous relationships between men and women. in general, this has obviously been quite useful for our world across many cultures,. muslim cultures have treated its wives far worse than Christian cultures. of course it is easy to find abuse. power always corrupts and women have been victimized. however, it is also possible to find men victimized by women, too. culturally it is harder for victimized men in our american culture to report domestic abuse, where there are whole charities devoted to caring for women abused. there is a commonly held view by some of your fellow radical feminists that all men are potential perps, making all women innocent victims. this is just as wrong as those men in the past who have abused their power over women. and, equally sexist.
marriage tends to civilize us men, and causes us to live longer. not bad benefits. and nowadays, it is common knowledge that a man who treats his wife as something other than a partner is a stupid foolish guy who loses so much.

Now hold on bearded-gnome. You make a good point about men being abused and that they should be treated fairly and equally when that is the case.
However, you blow it away with the statement that marriage tends to civilize men.
If you don't want to be seen as a "potential perp" then don't place women in the societal position of having to "civilize" you all. It assumes that men are grubby brutes to begin with that need civilization. Just perpetuates the stereotypes ...
Valkyrie_of_Reason (Kathy Getto) says…
gnome:
You, know, I was half-joking when I made that comment, however, there is some merit to it.
Your explanation has some holes in it, I fear:
the traditional practice of marriage, I assume you to mean a religious coupling, folowing all of God's law on adultery, etc. Most are not monogamous;
marriage does not civilize men, why would you want it to? It would be no fun;
your example of abuse using the Muslim religion and culture is interesting. What about American cults, Phelps and the like?
I totally agree with the following statement from you:
"it is common knowledge that a man who treats his wife as something other than a partner is a stupid foolish guy who loses so much."
The comment about my romanticism (sic) was kind of low.
not_dolph (anonymous) says…
You said kootch....
bearded_gnome (anonymous) says…
difference between civilizing influence, and assuming every man is a potential perp. very big difference and you are conflating them.
a fine writer (whom I've misplaced his name in my memory) wrote that men are civilized through marriage in the monogamy linked to the future through the children brought into the world and belonging to that monogamous union.
as a man I can say it isn't stereotypical to state that men generally are different from women, and we tend to live a more disorganized selfish life when on our own. this is far from being potential violent perps. imagine a study of dorm rooms of female KU students compared to the dorm rooms of male KU students. speaking from personal experience, the female students' rooms will be cleaner, better organized. also, the mean rate of empty serial malt beverage containers existant in studied dorm rooms will tend to predict male occupancy.
