Condition of I-70 crash victim improves
The condition of an injured Baldwin City man, Daryl D. Pickens Jr., 36, has improved to fair after more than two weeks in Kansas University Hospital in Kansas City, Kan., hospital spokesman Dennis Minich said Wednesday morning.
Pickens suffered head, face and leg injuries after a Feb. 3 accident on Interstate 70 near the overpass with Kansas Highway 7, according to a Kansas Turnpike Authority accident report.
State troopers had said after the accident that Pickens’ 1991 Ford F-150 pickup truck swerved and struck a bridge pillar in the westbound lanes for an unknown reason, and emergency crews extricated him from the vehicle.
