Spears enters rehab after public meltdown

New York – Britney Spears has been ridiculed for everything from her 55-hour first marriage to backup-dancer second husband and her recent pantyless partying escapades. Now that she’s entered rehab, though, the joke is over.

Spears’ manager, Larry Rudolph, told People magazine’s Web site that Spears had voluntarily checked herself into an undisclosed treatment facility.

“We ask that the media respect her privacy as well as those of her family and friends at this time,” Rudolph was quoted as saying. He didn’t disclose what substance she was trying to leave behind.

The 25-year-old pop star has been seen wearing skimpy outfits and partying heavily since filing for divorce from Kevin Federline in November, after two years of marriage.

On Friday night, Spears, the mother of two young sons, shaved her head bald. But that didn’t send her into hiding as she was later seen wearing an inexpensive blond wig.

Brady excited about impending fatherhood

New York – Tom Brady is happy about becoming a father.

“Tom and his family are excited about the pregnancy, and want to thank everyone who has shown support, and particularly for their consideration of Tom’s privacy,” Brady’s agent, Don Yee, told The Associated Press on Tuesday.

It was the first comment from Brady’s camp since it was disclosed that actress Bridget Moynahan, the former girlfriend of New England’s three-time Super Bowl winning quarterback, is three months pregnant. Her publicist, Christina Papadopoulous, has said Brady is the father.

Brady and Moynahan split up late last year after a three-year relationship. Brady, a two-time Super Bowl MVP, has since been seen with lingerie model Gisele Bundchen, and media outlets have reported the two are dating.

Moynahan, 35, has appeared in films such as “Coyote Ugly,” “I, Robot” and the ABC television series “Six Degrees.” Brady, 29, was named one of People magazine’s “50 Most Beautiful People” in 2002.

Boyfriend: Smith asked for burial in Bahamas

Fort Lauderdale, Fla. – Anna Nicole Smith’s boyfriend said the former centerfold was always obsessed with her own death and expected to die young, just like her hero, Marilyn Monroe.

At one point, Smith even hoped to be buried next to Monroe in California.

“She talked about death, really, from the time that I met her,” Howard K. Stern told a judge.

On Tuesday, Smith’s burial wishes were at the center of a court dispute between Stern and Smith’s estranged mother. Stern said Smith made it clear during her son’s funeral that she wanted to be buried in the Bahamas, while Smith’s mother wants the pinup laid to rest in her native Texas.

Stern recalled how a grief-stricken Smith threw herself over her son’s body last fall as he lay in a coffin in the Bahamas, wailing, “If Daniel has to be buried, I want to buried with him,” Stern testified.

Without written proof of Smith’s wishes, Circuit Judge Larry Seidlin was forced to hear testimony from those who claim to know what she wanted. Seidlin said he would decide by the end of the week.
