Students to experience mock ER procedures

Junior high students will get a chance to see what an emergency room setting is like during this week’s W@LH (Wednesday at Liberty Hall) program.

The event, which will be from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday, is sponsored by Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

Students will be able to observe and participate in mock ER procedures, learning how to bandage wounds, splint broken bones and transport victims.

They’ll also learn how to deal with internal injuries, such as penetration trauma to the chest, abdomen, head and extremities.

Some students may be asked to be “volunteer victims,” according to Mary Olive Thompson, who is organizing the event.
