Police have arrested a 25-year-old Lawrence man for domestic battery in a case reported earlier this evening as a possible abduction.

The alleged victim is a 20-year-old female acquaintance.

The Douglas County Sheriff office responded to a call about 5:40 p.m. today that a woman may have been abducted in a neighborhood just north of the Lawrence city limits. The eyewitness reported seeing the woman being pulled into a vehicle in the 1700 section of East 1300 Road (North Iowa Street). Around 6 p.m., a sheriff’s deputy was stringing crime-scene tape around a home in the neighborhood.

Sheriff’s spokeswoman Lt. Kari Wempe said deputies arrested the man after interviewing both him and the alleged victim. Further details of what happened weren’t available Tuesday evening.
