Actress pregnant with football star ex’s baby

Boston – Bridget Moynahan is pregnant and her ex-boyfriend, New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady, is the father, Moynahan’s publicist said Monday.

The couple split late last year after a three-year relationship. Brady, 29, a two-time Super Bowl MVP, has since been seen with lingerie model Gisele Bundchen, and media outlets have reported the two are dating.

A Dec. 15 statement from Moynahan’s publicist said that Moynahan, 35, and Brady parted ways several weeks earlier.

On Monday, Moynahan’s publicist, Christina Papadopoulos, said in a statement to The Associated Press that the actress “is over three months pregnant. Former boyfriend Tom Brady is the father.”

“Privacy and consideration is appreciated at this time,” the statement said. “No further comments will be made.”

Messages left by The Associated Press with Brady’s agent, Donald Yee, were not returned Monday.

Prince Harry rumored to deploy to Iraq

London – The Ministry of Defense calls the reports “entirely speculative.” Royal officials say no decision has been made. But Britain’s newspapers are filled with talk that Prince Harry – an army officer – soon could be heading to Iraq to face the reality of combat.

“Harry’s always wanted to be treated as an ordinary soldier,” the Daily Mail quoted an unidentified army source as saying. “He’s not an ordinary soldier, of course.”

Harry, 22, left Sandhurst Military Academy last year and became a second lieutenant, joining the Blues and Royals regiment of the Household Cavalry. At the time, the defense ministry said he could be deployed to Iraq, but that there might be situations when the presence of a member of the royal family could increase the risk for his comrades.

“There’s no way I’m going to put myself through Sandhurst, and then sit on my arse back home while my boys are out fighting for their country,” he said in a television interview to mark his 21st birthday.

Hairy WWE battle: Trump vs. McMahon

Detroit – Will Donald Trump put his hair where his mouth is?

Trump and World Wrestling Entertainment owner Vince McMahon will pick a wrestler to represent them in the ring April 1 at Wrestlemania 23 at Detroit’s Ford Field, The Detroit News reported last week.

If their pick is beaten in the “Battle of the Billionaires,” the loser will get his head shaved after the match, the Detroit Free Press reported Monday.

WWE spokesman Gary Davis said the date of the event had prompted speculation that it was a hoax. But it’s not an April Fool’s Day joke, he said.

“If Trump loses, he shaves his head,” he said.

The announcement of the match was made on a WWE television program that aired during the weekend.

First edition ‘Grapes of Wrath’ sells for $47K

Los Angeles – A rare edition of “The Grapes of Wrath,” John Steinbeck’s epic 1939 tale of Depression-era poverty, sold at auction for $47,800.

A number of other first-edition copies of Steinbeck works were sold Sunday at an auction conducted by Bonhams & Butterfields. A copy of “Of Mice and Men” sold for $7,768, “East of Eden” for $8,365 and “In Dubious Battle” for $11,353.

The books were owned by the author’s sister, Elizabeth Steinbeck Ainsworth, who died in 1992. The Steinbeck family chose to sell the books to finance renovation of a Pacific Grove bungalow where Steinbeck wrote some of his books, said Catherine Williamson, director of fine books and manuscripts for Bonhams.

The collection sold for more than $200,000.

Five of the Steinbeck titles were bought by Jim Dourgarian, a Bay Area antiquarian bookseller who specializes in Steinbeck’s work.

Bonhams believes the $47,800 price for the Pulitzer Prize-winning “Grapes of Wrath” is the world record for an at-auction sale for a Steinbeck novel, Williamson said.
