Law library to screen ‘To Kill a Mockingbird’

The Douglas County Law Library’s “Reels of Justice” legal-themed film series continues with the Feb. 23 screening of “To Kill a Mockingbird.”

“To Kill a Mockingbird” stars Gregory Peck as a 1930s Alabama attorney defending a black man, portrayed by Brock Peters, accused of raping a white woman.

The library is sponsoring the “Reels of Justice” Film Series as a public service in its education and outreach program to promote a better understanding of the legal system in the community at large.

The program will take place at 6 p.m. at the Lawrence Public Library, 707 Vt. It is free and open to the public.

The evening’s program will include local attorney Martin Miller, who will provide commentary on how accurately the film portrays the legal system.

The next film in the series will be “12 Angry Men,” scheduled for screening May 25.
