District accepting orders for grass seed

The Douglas County Conservation District is accepting orders for native grass, brome grass and wildflowers until Jan. 31. The district also will take orders for no-till drilling of the grasses and wildflowers.

Native grasses and plants are in demand to reintroduce habitat that has been destroyed, and several combinations of seeds are available to accommodate individual needs, said Jim Weaver, program coordinator. Such grasses are a primary defense against soil erosion, and require little maintenance.

To place an order, contact Weaver at 843-4260, ext. 3.
