¢ Marvel’s “Dark Tower: The Gunslinger Born” hardcover graphic novel collects the seven-part series written by Robin Furth and Peter David and illustrated in sumptuous style by Jae Lee and Richard Isanove. The story explores the past of Roland Deschain, the hero of Stephen King’s epic “Dark Tower” novels. $24.99.

¢ With new episodes of TV’s “Heroes” soon to run out because of the writers’ strike, here’s another way to get your “Heroes” fix. The hardcover, 240-page “Heroes” graphic novel from DC’s WildStorm imprint collects tales originally created for online and feature characters from the NBC series. With an introduction by “Heroes” star Masi Oka (Hiro). $29.99.

¢ OK, so it says Halloween more than it does Christmas. But for fans of the dark-humored “Marvel Zombies” miniseries, Wizard offers an exclusive, grisly Zombie Spider-Man bust. $59.99 at wizarduniverse.stores.yahoo.net.

¢ For those who just can’t get enough of Marvel’s friendly neighborhood Spider-Man, Titan Books offers “Spider-Man the Icon: The Life and Times of a Pop Culture Phenomenon.” The coffee-table book, written by Steve Saffel with a foreword by Spider-Man creator Stan Lee, charts Spidey’s evolution from “counter-culture figure to motion picture superstar.” $49.95.

¢ “DC Comics Covergirls,” written by comics veteran Louise Simonson, is a lavish look at the women of the DC universe. $39.95.

¢ The death of Captain America this year was big news even outside comic book circles. The deluxe, hardcover “Captain America by Ed Brubaker Omnibus” Vol. 1 collects the first 25 issues of writer Brubaker’s run on the series, which includes the return of Cap’s partner, Bucky Barnes, and, of course, Cap’s assassination. $74.99.

¢ Two Marvel movies from this year, “Spider-Man 3” and “Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer,” are now available on DVD. For those who like their DVDs loaded with extras, there’s the two-disc “Special Edition” of “Spider-Man 3,” $36.99, and the two-disc “Power Cosmic Edition” of the Fantastic Four movie, $34.99.

¢ With the Superman from DC’s famed “Kingdom Come” series having returned to the DC universe in the ongoing “Justice Society of America,” this is the time to snatch up the Exclusive Edition Kingdom Come Superman action figure.

The boxed set features the Kingdom Come Superman action figure designed by Alex Ross and sculpted by Tim Bruckner, but that’s just the beginning. There’s also a resin reproduction of the original sculpture created from Ross’ designs, an unpainted PVC pre-production “test shot” of the figure and a painted variant action figure exclusive to the set.
