Prosecutors have dropped charges of aggravated battery and criminal restraint against a Douglas County man accused in a May incident.

Douglas County District Attorney Charles Branson's office dropped the charges on Wednesday against Jeffrey Alan Belaire. A woman alleged Belaire attacked her and held her against her will at a residence in the 1700 block of East 1300 Road.

A jury trial was scheduled to begin Monday, but the woman no longer wanted to go forward, Branson said.

"The victim no longer wished to cooperate with the prosecution of this case," he said.

I thought in domestic violence the state could prosecute independantly of the alleged victim because so many people end up dropping the charges out of fear, intimidation or just craziness in general. Must have been b.s. from the get-go.
