Hogan in filing: Wife can support self after divorce

Clearwater, Fla. – Hulk Hogan said in a court filing that his wife, who has filed for divorce, can support herself and can help support their 17-year-old son, Nick.

Hogan’s petition, filed Wednesday under his real name, Terry Bollea, also said Nick is old enough to decide which parent he wants to live with.

Linda Bollea, who filed for divorce earlier this month after 24 years of marriage, is seeking an unspecified amount of alimony and child support.

She also wants her home to be Nick Bollea’s primary residence, with Hogan allowed liberal visitation, her petition states.

Hogan, 54, wants the couple’s assets and liabilities equitably distributed. The celebrity wrestler intends to continue covering the family with health insurance, his petition states. The couple also have a 19-year-old daughter, Brooke.

Hogan’s attorney, Ann Loughridge Kerr, said Friday she had no comment on the filings.

A call to Elliot Jay Goldstein, who represents Linda Bollea, wasn’t immediately returned.

‘Tonight Show’ nonwriting staff laid off

Los Angeles – Nonwriting staff members of “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” became the latest casualties of the four-week Hollywood writers strike when they were laid off Friday.

NBC confirmed the layoffs at the show without providing further details. The show went into reruns when the strike began Nov. 5 and Leno honored the picket lines.

NBC had been covering the salaries of the nonwriting staffers. Conan O’Brien has promised to cover the salaries of about 75 nonstriking “Late Night” staffers next week.

The layoffs came as the Writers Guild of America mulled a new contract offer. Negotiations were recessed until Tuesday.

The Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers said it was willing to offer $130 million in extra pay over the life of the proposed three-year deal along with the $1.3 billion writers already receive each year.

The Writers Guild of America countered that the offer amounted to a “massive rollback.”

Witherspoon tops list of highest-paid actresses

Los Angeles – Even though her latest film, “Rendition,” was a flop, Reese Witherspoon is a moneymaker.

The 31-year-old Academy Award winner commands $15 million to $20 million a movie, placing her at the top of The Hollywood Reporter’s annual list of the highest-paid actresses.

Angelina Jolie came in second with similar salary demands, though the animated “Beowulf” earned the 32-year-old actress far less – just $8 million.

Cameron Diaz was third, with a $15 million-per-movie price tag. Nicole Kidman dropped to fourth place, two spots lower than last year, with an asking price of $10 million to $15 million a film.

Renee Zellweger and Sandra Bullock also get $10 million to $15 million paychecks. So does Julia Roberts, who hasn’t appeared on the big screen since 2004.

Rounding out the top 10 are Drew Barrymore and Jodie Foster, who ask $10 million to $12 million per project, and Halle Berry, who gets $10 million a picture.

According to an Associated Press-calculated look at executive pay, published in June, typical A-list stars such as Brad Pitt or Leonardo DiCaprio earn $20 million plus 20 percent of the gross box office take per movie.

“Men traditionally command a higher salary than the women,” said Michelle Grabicki, associate features editor at the trade publication. “It’s a newer trend, women getting a percentage of the back end.”

Akon charged in fan-tossing case

Fishkill, N.Y. – Akon is facing criminal charges after a fan said she suffered a concussion when the hip-hop star tossed a teenager off the stage and onto her in the concert crowd.

Akon, 34, is scheduled to appear in Fishkill Town Court on Monday morning for arraignment on a misdemeanor charge of endangering the welfare of a minor, and second-degree harassment, a violation, according to a news release Thursday from Police Chief Donald Williams.

Audience members said that a spectator lobbed something at Akon and that the singer asked the crowd to point out the culprit. A security guard picked out a 15-year-old and sent him up to the stage, where Akon hoisted him onto his shoulders and flung him into the crowd.

The boy landed on Abby Rosa, who told the Poughkeepsie Journal she was later found to have a concussion. She said she has hired an attorney and spoken to police.

The singer’s Manhattan attorney, Benjamin Brafman, released a statement a few days after the June 3 concert at Dutchess Stadium saying there was no basis for criminal charges. A call to his office Thursday evening wasn’t immediately returned.

Will Smith: Hard work made him a movie star

Los Angeles – Will Smith says he’s not a great actor – but he’s a hardworking one.

“I’ve never viewed myself as particularly talented. I’ve viewed myself as … slightly above average in talent,” the 39-year-old actor tells CBS’ “60 Minutes” in an interview scheduled to air Sunday.

“Where I excel is with (a) ridiculous, sickening work ethic,” Smith says. “While the other guy’s sleeping, I’m working. While the other guy’s eating, I’m working. While the other guy’s making love, I mean, I’m making love, too, but I’m working really hard at it!”

Smith’s latest movie, “I Am Legend,” opens Dec. 14. His screen credits also include “The Pursuit of Happyness” and “Ali.”
