A 34-year-old Lawrence man who was pulled Sunday from Clinton Lake died Monday at Lawrence Memorial Hospital, according to Lt. Kari Wempe, a Douglas County sheriff's spokeswoman.
Wempe said the man's name would not be released until today because some family members had not been notified.
Officers at the scene Sunday afternoon said the man was at a family gathering with six other people in Bloomington Park, on the lake's southwest side, near the Clinton Lake Museum.
As he was trying to swim from the shore to a boat that had other family members on it, the man dipped below the water. Bystanders later pulled him to shore where they performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation. The man was taken by ambulance to LMH.
"At this particular point, I don't think we're calling it more than an unfortunate accident," Wempe said.
