Notes from Kansas Football Media Day

Some notes early on from Kansas Football Media Day at Hadl Auditorium…

Coach Mark Mangino said junior college transfer Kendrick Harper, who was projected to start opposite junior Aqib Talib in the defensive backfield, will miss 4-6 weeks. Mangino said he is hopeful to have the junior who played last season at Butler County Community College, back by the conference opener against Kansas State.

Mangino said defensive tackle Todd Haselhorst, projected atop the depth chart at defensive tackle, should be back by the end of the month, making him a possibility for the Sept. 1 opener against Central Michigan.

*Mangino made it clear again that his intent is to eventually have a No. 1 quarterback, but no decision has been made between Kerry Meier and Todd Reesing. Mangino did say, though: “From the Spring to two-a-days, Reesing has probably advanced a little more in his overall play than Meier has.” Mangino also pointed out that Reesing dropped roughly 20 pounds in the summer months.
