Overzealous fan gets Faith Hill’s attention

Lafayette, La. – Callers to a morning radio show said they were embarrassed and angry that a female fan groped Tim McGraw after his concert at the Cajundome last weekend.

The woman grabbed McGraw in the crotch area at the close of his set Saturday as the 40-year-old country singer walked between the barricade and the stage to greet fans.

McGraw’s wife, Faith Hill, who also performed on the Soul2Soul tour stop, berated the woman from the stage, calling her actions disrespectful.

“Someone needs to teach you some class, my friend,” Hill said.

Clips of Hill, 39, singling out the woman were posted on various Web sites, including YouTube and TMZ.

“Within an hour, that video made it around the world,” said C.J. Clement, who hosts a morning talk show on 99.9 FM KTDY with longtime partner, Debby Ray.

On Monday, female callers supported Hill’s decision to confront the woman, Clement said.

“They sided totally with Faith defending her man, standing her ground,” he said.

‘GMA’ anchor faces breast cancer surgery

New York – ABC “Good Morning America” anchor Robin Roberts discovered she had breast cancer after following her own advice about early detection in a story about former colleague Joel Siegel’s cancer death.

Roberts, who announced her diagnosis on Tuesday’s show, will undergo surgery Friday.

“Hearing the words and saying it and seeing – it’s surreal,” Roberts, 46, told viewers in an on-air conversation with co-anchor Diane Sawyer.

Siegel, the ABC morning show’s longtime film critic, died of colon cancer last month. During an ABC tribute to him, Roberts did a story about how early detection is key to surviving cancer. She went home that night and examined her breasts.

She found a lump. Roberts went in for follow-up tests and the cancer was discovered not in a mammogram, but in a more advanced ultrasound test and later biopsy.

“I’m very blessed and thankful that I found it early,” said Roberts, who has no family history of breast cancer.

Roberts has been an anchor at “GMA” since 2005. She was a frequent contributor and news reader for several years before that. A former college basketball star, Roberts was a versatile reporter and anchor at ESPN before moving to ABC News.

Nicole Richie confirms pregnancy in interview

Los Angeles – After months of rumors, Nicole Richie confirmed Tuesday that she is pregnant.

“Yes I am. We are,” Richie told ABC News’ Diane Sawyer for an interview to be aired this week. “I’m almost four months.”

Richie’s boyfriend, Good Charlotte frontman Joel Madden, is the father, she told ABC, which issued a news release about the interview.

The 25-year-old star of “The Simple Life” and on-again pal of Paris Hilton also talked with Sawyer about her guilty plea last week to driving under the influence and the resulting four-day jail sentence.

“I have a responsibility and it’s something that I did wrong, and if I could personally apologize to every single person that has lost a loved one from drunk driving, I would,” Richie said. “And unfortunately I can’t, but this is my way of paying my dues and taking responsibility and being an adult.”

The interview will air Thursday and Friday on “Good Morning America” and Friday night on “20/20.”

Former ‘Idol’ contestant held on drug charges

North Little Rock, Ark. – Corey Clark has been arrested on drug charges and an outstanding warrant from Arizona, authorities said.

The former “American Idol” contestant was being held at the Pulaski County jail pending a court appearance Tuesday in North Little Rock, said John Rehrauer, a spokesman for the sheriff’s department.

Clark was arrested about 2:30 a.m. Monday near Interstate 40 on charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia, Rehrauer said.

A warrant had been issued for Clark after he failed to appear in an Arizona court on a summons stemming from an arrest last year for violating a court order and trespassing.

Clark was disqualified after reaching the finals of the popular Fox TV show in 2003 for failing to reveal a previous arrest.

He later accused “Idol” judge Paula Abdul of coaching him and initiating an affair. She denied his allegations, and Fox cleared Abdul of any wrongdoing.
