Max Falkenstien to give book-signing

Max Falkenstien, Kansas University sports broadcasting legend and author of a new book, “A Good Place to Stop: 60 Seasons with Max and the Jayhawks,” will make two appearances at the KU Bookstores.

The first book-signing will be from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday at Oread Books on level 2 of the Kansas Union. The second book-signing will be from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. May 3 at the KU Bookstore on the KU Edwards campus in Overland Park. Both events are free, and the public is invited.

“A Good Place to Stop: 60 Seasons with Max and the Jayhawks,” publishing this month from PowerHouse LLC, is a sequel to Falkenstien’s earlier, out-of-print memoir, “Max and the Jayhawks.” “A Good Place to Stop” picks up where the earlier book left off – with recollections from Falkenstien’s final 10 years as Jayhawks broadcaster, including an athletics department shakeup, the departure of longtime coach Roy Williams and subsequent arrival of Bill Self, as well as the hiring of two head football coaches. In “A Good Place to Stop,” Falkenstien also relives his entire 60 years as “The Voice of the Jayhawks.”
