Preliminary hearing set in hit-and-run case
After several delays, a preliminary hearing Tuesday was set for a Lawrence man accused of killing a Kansas University student in a hit-and-run accident in September.
Joshua Walton is charged in Douglas County District Court with involuntary manslaughter while driving under the influence and leaving the scene of an accident. Prosecutors say he struck and killed KU student Ryan Kanost, 22, as Kanost was attempting to walk across Kentucky Street at 13th Street.
Evidence will be heard in the case during the June 8 preliminary hearing.
