Office shooting victim speaks with police

? A man shot in the chest at his accounting office regained consciousness and talked with investigators for the first time about a former employee who fired at workers and killed one, police said Thursday.

Detectives interviewed Paul Riva, 47, on Wednesday as well as fellow managing partner Alan Steinberg, 48, who was shot in the hip during Monday’s attack at Gordon Advisors. They did not release information about what the men said.

Anthony LaCalamita III, 38, who is charged in the shootings, was a general accountant when he was fired from the firm last week. Police said he walked into the office as employees were scrambling to beat the approaching federal tax deadline and opened fire with a 12-gauge shotgun.

Receptionist Madeline Kafoury, 63, of Warren, was killed.

LaCalamita is awaiting an April 19 preliminary hearing on one count of first-degree murder, two counts of intent to murder, using a firearm during the commission of a felony, and fleeing and eluding police.
