Law enforcement report

Injury accidents

¢ An Ottawa man was taken to Ransom Memorial Hospital with minor injuries following a two-vehicle wreck about 8:10 a.m. Wednesday 10 miles east of Ottawa on Kansas Highway 68.

Both vehicles involved, a 1997 Chevrolet truck driven by William Swarnes, 20, of Rich Hill, Mo., and a 1989 GMC truck driven by Clark R. Lambred, 49, Ottawa, were going west on Highway 68. Swarnes was following too closely and rear-ended Lambred's truck, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol.

¢ Smoke or odor removal, 7:37 p.m. Tuesday, 2456 Winterbrook Drive.

¢ Smoke detector activation, 6:21 p.m. 1800 Engel Road.

¢ Power line down, 5:38 p.m. Tuesday, 2705 Rawhide Lane.

¢ Lightning strike, 5:45 a.m. Tuesday, 2900 Oxford Road.

¢ Building fire, 12:59 a.m. Tuesday, 2340 Murphy Drive.

anyone know what happened downtown with the several fire trucks/ambulances and police cars blocking off a good chunk of vermont, or whatever street is one west of mass? Looked like a huge huge emergency, but not a word on the paper's website yet
