Emerson Quartet to visit KU

The Emerson String Quartet, winner of eight Grammy Awards, including the 2007 Grammy for Best Chamber Music Performance and proclaimed “America’s greatest quartet” by Time Magazine, will perform at 7:30 p.m. April 20 at Kansas University’s Lied Center.

Created in the bicentennial year of the U.S., the quartet takes its name from the American poet and philosopher Ralph Waldo Emerson and is dedicated to the performance of classical repertoire.

The quartet will perform the following:

¢ Beethoven’s String Quartet in F major, Op. 135

¢ Nielsen’s “At the Bier of a Young Artist”

¢ Bartók’s String Quartet No. 3

¢ Schubert’s String Quartet in D minor, D. 810, “Death and the Maiden.”
