Law enforcement report
¢ Police say a second theft within a one-week period has been reported at a local liquor store. The owner of Cork & Barrel, 2000 W. 23rd St., reported that an unidentified person entered the store between 9 p.m. Saturday and 10:30 a.m. Sunday, according to police.
More than $3,600 was stolen from inside the store, plus $500 damage to a door frame and $25 damage to a cabinet frame. The store reported more than $2,100 stolen in a similar theft Sept. 21. Lawrence Police ask anyone with information to call the department at 832-7501.
Burglaries and thefts reported
¢ Sometime Wednesday, someone entered a residence through the basement in the 25000 section of 155th Street in Leavenworth County and took jewelry, of about $2,000 value, and about $1,900 in cash from the home, according to a report with the Leavenworth County Sheriff’s office.
Injury accidents
¢ Two people went to the hospital early Wednesday after a wreck at Ninth and Kentucky streets. Police cited one of the drivers, Nicholas W. Lewis, 21, for OUI, according to a report.
Lewis was driving north on Kentucky Street shortly before 2 a.m., according to a report. An eastbound driver, Patricia A. Metzler, 53, ran a red light and the two vehicles collided. Both were taken to Lawrence Memorial Hospital by ambulance, and Metzler was cited for a red-light violation.
