Brother of drunken 3-year-old arrested

? A 3-year-old girl was found passed out from drinking alcohol Monday night at a home in north Minneapolis, authorities said Tuesday. Four adults there also were “heavily drunk,” and alcohol containers littered the floor.

The child was taken to North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale, Minn., with a 0.12 percent blood-alcohol level, said police spokesman Lt. Greg Reinhardt. Her grandmother, a 53-year-old Minneapolis woman, was arrested on suspicion of possible child endangerment but was released Tuesday without being charged.

The child was released from the hospital Wednesday to the St. Joseph’s Home for Children, a nonprofit that cares for children in crisis.

The girl’s brother was arrested Tuesday at the home on suspicion of child endangerment.

The girl was unconscious and in critical condition when she was taken to the hospital Monday night, Reinhardt said.

“The child could have easily died,” Reinhardt said. Her sister, possibly in her early teens, called police.

The sister said the 3-year-old accidentally got into alcohol in a cabinet, Reinhardt said.
