Law enforcement report

¢ A 30-year-old Lawrence woman has been arrested in the robbery of a taxi driver last week in the 500 block of Fireside Drive. Mary E. Moland was booked into jail early Thursday for aggravated robbery and formally charged Thursday afternoon in Douglas County District Court. The 53-year-old driver told police she was robbed of her money bag shortly after she picked up a man and woman between 2:45 a.m. and 3 a.m. Sept. 12.

¢ Levi, one of two drug-sniffing dogs owned by the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, has been called into service three times in the past week to smell for drugs during traffic stops. The dog helped recovered suspected marijuana during a stop at North 1400 Road and East 2300 Road in Eudora and a Lawrence Police stop on East 15th Street in Lawrence. The dog did not detect anything after being called to a stop near U.S. Highway 40 and East 100 Road.

¢ Lawrence Police are investigating an allegation that a 19-year-old female Kansas University student “took inappropriate liberties” with photographs of her 20-year-old roommate by showing them to other people earlier this year. Police would not elaborate on details of the case and said a report had been forwarded to the district attorney’s office for review. The 19-year-old alleges the 20-year-old threatened her.

Burglaries and thefts reported

¢ 400 section of East 1250 Road: More than $4,000 worth of property was stolen in a forced-entry home burglary. It was discovered Aug. 22 but a report was not released publicly until Thursday. The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office is still investigating.

¢ 400 block of Vine Drive: A 36-year-old Lawrence man reported more than $3,400 worth of camera and computer equipment stolen between 5:20 p.m. Sunday and 7:40 a.m. Monday.

¢ 3200 block of Mesa Way: At least four vehicles were burglarized early Wednesday in the 3200 block of Mesa Way. On each vehicle, an unidentified person broke a passenger-side window and took items from inside. Total damage and value of items stolen from the vehicles was more than $3,000.

Injury accidents

¢ An Oskaloosa man died after a one-vehicle accident at 4:15 p.m. Thursday in Jefferson County.

According to a Kansas Highway Patrol report, Terry Farmer, 55, was driving a 1996 Nissan Altima to the north on Kansas Highway 4 near 41st Street when the car ran off the road and into the east ditch. The car struck a culvert and went airborne for 128 feet until it landed on its nose and rolled onto its top.

Farmer was wearing his seat belt. He was taken to Stormont-Vail Regional Health Care Center in Topeka, but Jefferson County firefighters later notified his family that he died, according to the report.

¢ Medics transported one person to Lawrence Memorial Hospital at 10 p.m. Thursday after a one-vehicle accident near Eudora on Kansas Highway 10, an emergency dispatcher said.

Medics told dispatchers that the person suffered nonlife-threatening injuries, but more details were not available.
