Author plans visit to KU

Marci Shore, award-winning author and leading expert on Polish culture and intellectual history, will discuss her book “Caviar and Ashes: A Warsaw Generation”s Life and Death in Marxism, 1918-1968” during the annual Oswald P. Backus lecture in Polish studies on Monday.

The event will be from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. in the Kansas Union’s Jayhawk Room, with a reception following.

Shore also plans a brownbag lecture on her current research on the Avant-Garde art movement. This talk will take place from noon to 1 p.m. Tuesday in 318 Bailey. She also will speak later that day to the Lawrence Jewish Community Center about her book, “Black Seasons (Jewish Lives),” at 7:30 p.m. at the center, 917 Highland Drive. Events are free and open to the public.
