A two-alarm house fire in west Lawrence kept 20 firefighters busy for more than an hour Friday night.

The fire at 4121 W. 13th St. was reported about 7 p.m. to Lawrence-Douglas County Fire & Medical. Nobody was at home at the time, but firefighters did rescue two cats.

The two-story house belongs to Scott Richardson. The fire was extinguished shortly after 8 p.m. No cause or damage estimate was available late Friday, and the fire remained under investigation.
