Law enforcement report
¢ Police arrested three people early Thursday morning for trying to steal a children's bowling ramp from Royal Crest Lanes, 933 Iowa.
An officer was on routine patrol shortly after midnight when he saw three people carrying the ramp out of the west door of the bowling alley, according to a report. The officer reported seeing two people load the ramp into the trunk of a vehicle while the third got in the driver's seat.
He talked with them and an employee and learned they didn't have permission to take it. All three - Donald Tre Overstake, 30, Reesa Raeann Allee, 23, and Ryan Martin Weekley, 29, all of Lawrence - went to the Douglas County Jail and were given notices to appear in court for a theft charge.
¢ A 53-year-old taxi driver told police a man and woman robbed her of a money bag shortly after she picked them up between 2:45 a.m. and 3 a.m. Tuesday in the 500 block of Fireside Drive.
Burglaries and thefts reported
¢ 1400 block of West Third Street: a 25-year-old woman reported $2,786 worth of property, including 170 compact discs and a portable DVD player, stolen from her vehicle between 5 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. Sept. 7.
¢ 17500 section of Leavenworth Road near Tonganoxie: a 69-year-old man reported that someone entered his residence between 9:15 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. Monday and stole $20,120 worth of items, including firearms, tools and household property, according to the Leavenworth County Sheriff's Office.
Condition updates
¢ A Pomona High School student died Wednesday afternoon at the University of Kansas Hospital in Kansas City, Kan., from injuries she suffered in a one-vehicle accident Tuesday in Franklin County, according to the Franklin County Sheriff's Office. Baley Spillman, 16, was driving a Jeep that ran off the road and struck a tree after 11 p.m. near Florida and Rock Creek roads, according to the sheriff's office.
Injury accidents
¢ A 72-year-old Ottawa woman was flown to Overland Park Regional Medical Center Wednesday night after she suffered disabling injuries in a rollover accident on Interstate 35 northeast of Ottawa.
At the scene, Kansas Highway Patrol troopers did not find the second vehicle involved, according to the accident report. Wanda Smith was driving her 2000 Chevrolet Blazer to the south on I-35 and attempted to pass another vehicle. The two vehicles made contact, and Smith's vehicle went into the median, where she lost control.
Smith's vehicle re-entered the southbound lane, and after more contact with the other vehicle, her Blazer rolled onto its top, according to the accident report.
¢ A Louisburg man suffered head injuries after a motorcycle accident Wednesday in Leavenworth County.
Melvern Godin, 49, was flown to the University of Kansas Hospital in Kansas City, Kan., after his northbound Harley Davidson motorcycle slid at 9:40 a.m. on the rock surface of Hollingsworth Road as he had turned east, according to the Leavenworth County Sheriff's office.
