Reconstruction begins in fatal boat crash

? Investigators worked Monday to reconstruct two high-performance boats involved in a deadly collision during a poker run at Lake Texoma.

Oklahoma Highway Patrol investigators were piecing together the two boats Monday to determine how the crash happened, said spokeswoman Trooper Kera Philippi.

“It’s been a time-consuming process because of them being in so many pieces,” she said Monday.

Philippi said it was too early to tell whether speed or alcohol were factors in the crash.

Four victims in one boat were Gordon Mineo, 61, dubbed “Flash Gordon” during his drag racing days; his wife, Ann, of Rockwall, Texas; and Amy Dawn Lane, 31, and Justin R. Lane, 25, of Little Elm, Texas.

Mineo’s boat, the “Flash Gordon,” was a 36-foot Daytona Eliminator, a custom-built, turbine-powered catamaran.

The fifth victim was Myra Gibson, 51, of Old Hickory, Tenn., who was a passenger in the second boat, a 43-foot Nor-Tech high-performance boat. The driver was Bruce Gibson, 54, who survived the crash and was in fair condition Monday at a Dallas hospital.

Investigators planned to conduct a follow-up interview with Gibson to get more details on the crash.
