Van crash at bus stop injures 10 children

? A van plowed through a group of children Friday morning at a bus stop, injuring at least 10, six of them seriously, authorities said.

The children, ages 10 to 14, were on a sidewalk near a Silver Spring apartment building when the van’s driver lost control, Montgomery County Fire and Rescue spokesman Pete Piringer said.

None of the injuries was considered life-threatening.

The driver was coming up a hill and around a curve when he apparently lost control. The vehicle jumped a curb, hit a fire hydrant and then spun into the children, said Police Cpl. Sonia Pruitt.

The driver, identified by police as Sebastian Vasquez, 29, of Hyattsville, still was being interviewed and no charges had been filed, police said.
