Snoop Dogg arrested after gun, drugs found

Burbank, Calif. – Snoop Dogg was arrested for investigation of illegally possessing a handgun and drugs as he left NBC Studios after performing on “The Tonight Show With Jay Leno.”

The 35-year-old rapper, whose real name is Calvin Broadus, and two members of his entourage were arrested about 6 p.m. Tuesday after a search of his Diamond Bar home and car, police Sgt. Kevin Grandalski said.

Police seized a handgun and some illegal drugs, Grandalski said. He didn’t have details.

The rapper was arrested for investigation of being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm, possessing cocaine, transporting marijuana and having a false compartment in his vehicle, Grandalski said.

Broadus was booked at the jail for investigation of being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm. He made bail of $60,000 and was released shortly after 1 a.m. Wednesday, about seven hours after his arrest.

Kidman top earner among Hollywood women

Los Angeles – Nicole Kidman is the queen of Hollywood when it comes to money.

The Oscar winner, who earns as much as $17 million per movie, tops the fifth annual list of highest-paid actresses released Wednesday by The Hollywood Reporter.

Kidman, 39, ranked second on last year’s list behind four-time top-earner Julia Roberts, who didn’t make the list this year. She spent time with her 2-year-old twins.

In second place, with $15 million per movie, was Reese Witherspoon, 30, who won the best-actress Oscar this year for her performance in “Walk the Line.”

Renee Zellweger, Drew Barrymore and Cameron Diaz placed third, fourth and fifth, respectively. They also get $15 million for each film.

Rounding out the top 10 are Halle Berry ($14 million), Charlize Theron ($10 million), Angelina Jolie ($10 million), Kirsten Dunst ($8 million to $10 million) and Jennifer Aniston ($8 million).

It’s a girl for Coppola

New York – Sofia Coppola has given birth to her first child, a daughter named Romy, the filmmaker’s spokesman, Robert Garlock, confirmed Wednesday.

The baby was born Tuesday in Paris to Coppola and her boyfriend, Thomas Mars, singer for the French rock band Phoenix, Garlock said.

“Mother, father and daughter are all doing well,” he told The Associated Press.

Coppola, 35, is the daughter of Oscar-winning director Francis Ford Coppola. She won a best screenplay Oscar for 2003’s “Lost in Translation,” which she also directed.

Her latest film, “Marie Antoinette,” stars Kirsten Dunst as the 18th-century French queen.
