Mamma mia! ABBA museum to open in Sweden in 2008

Stockholm, Sweden – A museum dedicated to the music, clothing and history of Swedish supergroup ABBA will open in Stockholm in 2008.

Organizers are still searching for a suitable location for the museum, but said Tuesday it will open somewhere in central Stockholm in 2008.

ABBA is one of the most successful bands in history, having sold more than 370 million albums. While the group hasn’t performed together since 1982, it continues to sell nearly 3 million records a year and the musical “Mamma Mia!” – written by Benny Andersson and Bjorn Ulvaeus and based on the group’s hits – has been seen by more than 27 million people around the world.

The interactive museum will feature original outfits and instruments used by ABBA, handwritten song lyrics, a display of awards and “all other things we can think of and find,” said Ulf Westman, an event consultant who is spearheading the project.

‘Male insecurity’ may be cause of Anderson divorce

New York – The New York Post says Pamela Anderson wants out of her four-month marriage to Kid Rock because of what an unidentified friend calls Kid’s “male insecurity” and “major anger issues.”

The anonymous pal said Kid – real name Bob Ritchie – went ballistic when he saw Pam’s role in “Borat,” in front of guests at a screening in the home of Ron Meyer, chief of Universal Studios. Kid “started screaming,” the friend says, saying Pam “had humiliated herself” in the movie.

Tracy Morgan arrested on drunken driving charges

New York – Tracy Morgan, a former “Saturday Night Live” regular who co-stars on NBC’s “30 Rock,” was arrested Tuesday in Upper Manhattan on drunken driving charges, the district attorney’s office said.

The 38-year-old comedian was stopped around 4:30 a.m. while driving a Cadillac Escalade on the Henry Hudson Parkway near West 158th Street, said Edison Alban, a spokesman for District Attorney Robert Morgenthau.

Police said Morgan smelled of alcohol and later failed a breathalyzer test at a police station, Alban said.

Morgan’s publicist in Los Angeles didn’t immediately return a call seeking comment.

Lauer family adds one more

New York – Matt Lauer now has another reason to look bleary-eyed on the set of the “Today” show. His wife, Annette, gave birth to a son, the couple’s third child, Tuesday.

In honor of his wife’s heritage, the boy was given the Dutch name of Thijs (pronounced tice). Born in a New York City hospital at 8:37 a.m. CST, Thijs weighed in at 7 pounds, 4 ounces.

The couple has a 5-year-old son, Jack, and 3-year-old daughter, Romy.
