Free State High School students took home the top honor at a recent 2006 Math Day competition at Washburn University.

James Larocca, Jing Li and Kevin Song earned first-place team honors in the 5A and 6A classification.

Li also received a third-place individual award in the senior category, and Song earned a third-place individual award in the nonsenior category. Students completed a competitive examination. Awards were based on high scores.

There were 241 students from 21 Kansas schools who participated in the event.
