Marine from Kansas dies in training exercise

? A Marine was fatally shot during a combat training exercise, the U.S. Marine Corps said.

Cpl. Seth M. Algrim, 22, of Garden City, Kan., died late Monday from gunshot wounds sustained during urban combat training, according to a Camp Pendleton statement late Tuesday. The incident remained under investigation, but foul play was not suspected. No other information was released.

Algrim joined the Marine Corps in August 2003 and was assigned to 1st Reconnaissance Battalion, 1st Marine Division. He was a combat veteran who won several awards including the Afghanistan Campaign Medal, the Iraq Campaign Medal and the Combat Action Medal.
