New Letters accepting contest entries

New Letters, the international quarterly of new writing, is now accepting submissions for its 21st Annual Literary Awards. Writers may submit unpublished work in poetry, fiction and essay.

The contest has awarded more than $50,000 in prize money to nearly 60 writers nationwide.

Winners of each category will receive $1,500 and publication of the winning work(s) in a future issue of New Letters. A poetry entry consists of three to six poems; a fiction or essay entry may contain up to 8,000 words. There is no limit to the number of entries or categories a writer can enter. The reading fee for the first entry is $15 (includes a one-year subscription to the magazine); every entry after the first is $10.

All entries will receive consideration for future publication in the magazine.

The deadline for entries is Thursday. For complete guidelines and rules, send a self-addressed, stamped envelope to New Letters Awards for Writers, University of Missouri-Kansas City, 5101 Rockhill Road, Kansas City, MO 64110, or call (816) 2325-1168, or visit www. newletters.org to enter online.
