Lawrence firefighters, along with paramedics, help secure a driver onto a stretcher this afternoon after she was involved in a two-car accident on Iowa Street at the intersection with Harvard Road.

A two-car accident this afternoon sent a car skidding on its side along Iowa Street and landed the driver in the hospital.

According to Lawrence-Douglas County Fire & Medical, the car flipped on its side after attempting to swerve around another car stopped in front of it near the intersection of Iowa and Harvard Road. The driver hit the brakes then clipped the stopped car, sending the car onto its side and eventually onto its hood near Capitol Federal Savings at the intersection.

The driver, a woman, was trapped in her car briefly, but was extricated and transported to Lawrence Memorial Hospital with minor injuries.
