U.S. 24 crash sends four to hospitals

Four people were injured after a head-on crash Saturday afternoon in Perry on U.S. Highway 24.

According to a Kansas Highway Patrol report, Darlene Pasley, 71, Topeka, attempted to pass a 1999 Dodge pick-up truck in the westbound lane when her 1995 Pontiac car struck an eastbound 1985 Lincoln car, driven by Claude Saunders, 42, Eudora.

Saunders was trapped inside his vehicle and was not wearing a seat belt. He was transported with disabling injuries via air ambulance to St. Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City, Mo. His condition report was unavailable Saturday night.

His two passengers, Rose Saunders and Dorothy Grizzle, also suffered disabling injuries. Saunders was flown by air ambulance to the University of Kansas Hospital in Kansas City, Kan. Her condition report was unavailable Saturday night. Grizzle was taken by ambulance to Stormont-Vail Regional Health Center in Topeka, where a nursing supervisor said she was treated and released.

Pasley was also trapped in her vehicle and not wearing a seat belt. She was also flown to KU Hospital by LifeStar, and her condition report was also unavailable.
