Lawrence piano students to get pro feedback

The National Piano-Playing auditions will be May 811 at Plymouth Congregational Church, 925 Vt.

Ninety-two local piano pupils from the studios of Eleanor Basgall, Mary Cornwell, Elaine de San Miguel, Jean Drumm, Sarah Higgins, Janet Johnson, Linda Neigert and Rebecca Pennington have registered as candidates for membership in the National Fraternity of Student Musicians, sponsored by the National Guild of Piano Teachers, Teacher Division of the American College of Musicians.

This group of young pianists will perform in the presence of a professional adjudicator chosen by the national organization, and receive a certificate, pin, report card and a year’s membership in the National Fraternity of Student Musicians.

Kaye Dee Krueger Richards, of Ottawa, will be this year’s adjudicator. Richards holds a bachelor’s degree in piano performance and a master’s degree in music education from Bob Jones University in Greenville, S.C. She has had thriving private piano studios in South Carolina, Maryland, Florida and North Carolina. She also arranges and composes for piano, cello, voice, choir and harp.
