Rivers seeks love match
Jackson, Miss. – Joan Rivers is looking for love in cyberspace.
So far, no luck.
The 72-year-old red-carpet critic and comedian said she and assistant Matt Stewart created a profile for her on Match.com.
“We were hoping to meet Mr. Right,” Rivers said recently. “We didn’t even get a wink.”
The profile lists Rivers as looking for a man between the ages of 65 and 75.
Rivers doesn’t want to get married again, though. The former talk show host was married to British producer Edgar Rosenberg, who committed suicide in 1987.
As far as children go, Rivers already has one, daughter Melissa, as well as a 5-year-old grandson, Edgar. Her Match.com profile answer under the children section says “probably not.”
New hosting gig
Athens, Ga. – First the Oscars and now the Peabodys.
Jon Stewart, host of Comedy Central’s award-winning fake news program “The Daily Show” and host of the Academy Awards earlier this month, will host the Peabody Awards ceremony June 5 in New York City. The awards, the oldest in broadcasting, are considered among the most prestigious and selective prizes in electronic media.
Stewart is a two-time Peabody winner for “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart: Indecision 2000” and “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart: Indecision 2004.”
Playing dirty
Los Angeles – “American Idol” contestant Kevin Covais is getting a little help in the show’s voting pool, but not from his fans.
This season the Web site Votefortheworst.com is backing Covais because it says he’s the worst singer on the program.
The site says keeping bad singers around makes the show more fun to watch. It had a lot to do with Scott Savol sticking around in season four.
If Covais is voted off tonight, the site says it’ll back Kellie Pickler.
