A fire inside a wall caused minor damage Thursday afternoon to a southwestern Lawrence apartment.

Lawrence-Douglas County Fire & Medical Capt. James King said firefighters used water to put out the fire just after 4:10 p.m. The flames were confined to the wall and only smoke was visible from the outside, he said.

No one was injured. Residents were evacuated as a precaution from one building in the Quail Creek Apartments, 2111 Kasold Drive.

Investigators continued to investigate the cause Thursday evening.

King said at the scene Thursday that he believed no residents would need to be displaced. A damage estimate was set at $10,000.
